Mythical bestiary Wikia

Lucives are cervine beasts, but they are originated from North America. They are predators that masked themselves beneath the harmless guise of a baby fawn.

Appearance[]

To an unknowing observer, it looks like a helpless orphan creature in need of protection. Yet this appearance is nothing but a deadly ruse. In truth, lucives are fully grown animals with the appearance of a baby animal, their mouths concealing deer-like jaws lined with sharp, canid-like teeth. These features betray their true nature as carnivores/sanguivores, built not for grazing but for rending and eating baby animals, especially fawn deers of their victims to survive.

Solitary by nature, they may occasionally gather in small groups when hunting larger prey or defending territory. Lucives display remarkable intelligence, capable of laying ambushes and tracking both animals and humans with extraordinary precision. Although they are primarily similar to nocturnal vampiric deers, lucives can tolerate daylight, with deer's pale skin and delicate fur may burn mildly if exposed to the sun for extended periods, but they suffer no lasting harm and retain full strength. They do not form large herds and avoid prolonged interactions with other lucives, except during rare reproductive or regenerative events. The perpetual cuteness ensures that even when noticed by humans or other animals, they are often underestimated, which grants them a significant advantage in survival. They are unnatural rivals, the frequent clashes where these monsters meet plains, like jackalopes rely on agility and cooperative tactics to protect their territory, while lucives use speed, predatory instincts, and deceptive cuteness to evade or counterattack. The recounter of their lightning-fast duels at twilight, leaving only scars on the landscape and a sense of unease for any human observers.
