Jabberwocks are creatures, related to dragons, that are native to Wonderland.

Appearance[]

Jabberwocks are rather similar to their draconic cousins, appearance-wise. They sport dark, scaly skin, with a red-and-gold pattern on their bodies, akin to a waistcoat/vest. They have long spines along their backs, claws, and long, whip-like tails, with a sharp, sword-like protrusion on the end. Their heads combine a strange mix of draconic and ichthyoid features, with bright red, draconic eyes, large, fin-like frills on the sides of their heads, long fangs, long, whisker-like feelers on their faces (like a catfish), and, strangely enough, four large, bucked teeth at the front of their mouths. Finally, jabberwocks possess large, pterosaur-like wings on their backs.

Behavior[]

Jabberwocks behave pretty much like their draconic cousins, in the fact that they are usually solitary until they find a mate, then they mate for life, and lay between 8 to 10 eggs every 30 draconic moons (or approximately 2.24 years). Alongside the bandersnatches and the jubjub birds, jabberwocks are one of the three apex predators of Wonderland. They and the other two tend to feed on the other native species, such as the mome raths, the slithy toves, and the borogoves. While the other two use their feathers and spines to get prey, jabberwocks use their "burbling" to stun their prey.
