Dingbats are species of mammalian-avian beasts from the origin of North America. They were immediately spread in worldwide (possibly elsewhere).

Appearance[]

Dingbats are small, unexceptional creatures, often described as a hybrid between a tiny mammal and a bird. Their bodies are covered in soft fur, while their limbs are thin and bird-like, ending in delicate clawed feet that allow them to perch or scurry with equal ease. Their faces are usually impish, with large, glowing eyes and a small, pointed snout, giving them an unsettling yet oddly comical expression. This include of the feathery patches along their backs or wings so small they cannot truly fly, but allow for short, fluttering glides. Their color varies from muted browns and grays that blend with the forest, to brighter tones that reflect their mischievous nature.

Dingbats are cunning and mischievous, thriving on clever tricks and their stupidly intelligence. They are known to mimic human voices, imitate the sounds of forest animals, and vanish silently when observed. Their small size and hybrid body allow them to move swiftly through trees, over rocks, and along forest floors, making them extremely difficult to catch. They often steal tools, food, or personal belongings, and are said to enjoy leading wanderers astray, especially those unfamiliar with the forest. While they are primarily playful, they can be protective of their territory and aggressive toward intruders who threaten their nests or resources.

Dingbats possess minor supernatural abilities that augment their cunning. They can perfectly mimic sounds to deceive humans or animals, and their partial wings allow for short glides or agile jumps between trees. Their mammal-bird hybrid physiology grants them exceptional balance, reflexes, and stealth. Some fans suggest they can manipulate shadows or move silently enough to appear as if they have disappeared entirely, making them masters of ambush and escape.

  • Enhanced agility: Dingbats can go from one movement to another effortlessly, allowing them to effectively dodge attacks, do backflips, swing from things, and numerous other athletic, gymnastic, and martial implements with little effort.

  • Enhanced jump: Dingbats can achieve rocket-like jumps while having hassle-free landings.
  • Enhanced lung capacity: Dingbats possess tremendous lung capacity, and are able to use oxygen more efficiently than others while staying physically active.
  • Enhanced reflexes: Dingbats possess drastically enhanced reaction speed, allowing them to dodge attacks, catch falling objects, and react instantaneously to what would take most others longer to react.
  • Enhanced smell: Dingbats are able to detect specific beasts, beings, objects, places, substance, etc., locate their origins, and even track, using nothing but their senses of smell.

  • Aerial adaptation: Dingbats are adapted to living in high altitudes, allowing them to use the oxygen more efficiently, combat wind friction, and provides immunity to the fear of heights and vertigo.
  • Antlers/horns: Dingbats possess antlers or horns for adult males and they can be used as weapon for defense by goring someone.
  • Claws/talons: Dingbats are able to use their claws/talons as fearsome weapons.
  • Zoolingualism: Dingbats are able to talk to animals in mundane and, can understand their reactions.
  • Bird/deer/bat communication: Dingbats are able to communicate birds, deers, bats, and other dingbats from each their known personalities of their own characteristics.

Weaknesses[]

Despite their trickery, dingbats are vulnerable to bright light and fire, which disorients and drives them away. Their small, fragile bodies make them weak in direct confrontation, and they are easily trapped if cornered. Overconfidence is another vulnerability, as their playful nature sometimes leads them into dangerous situations or traps set by humans or larger predators.
