Amphisbaenae are a species of magical serpents that originated in Greece, but have now spread around the world.

Appearance[]

Amphisbaenae are beasts that look extremely similar to mundane snakes, however, the one main difference is the fact that mundane snakes possess only one head, whereas amphisbaenae possess two heads each, one on each end. These heads possess separate minds, digestive tracts, hearts, etc., however, their minds are somewhat linked, allowing them to work together when hunting prey.

Behavior[]

Amphisbaenae essentially behave like most mundane snakes, being mostly solitary until they gather in breeding groups and, during the winter months, in hibernaculums. Female amphisbaebae will lay 3-8 eggs in one clutch, like most mundane snakes, and also will dig a nest for the eggs to hatch and leave them there.

  • Enhanced flexibility:​ Amphisbaenae are able to bend and twist their bodies effortlessly past what most thought possible.
  • Enhanced lung capacity:​ Amphisbaenae possess tremendous lung capacity and are able to use oxygen more efficiently than others while staying active.
  • Enhanced smell:​ Amphisbaenae are able to detect specific beasts, beings, objects, places, substances, etc., locate their origins, and even track, using nothing but their senses of smell.
  • Enhanced stealth:​ Amphisbaenae possess extraordinarily skillful expertise in the various ways and techniques of stealth.
  • Enhanced strength:​ Amphisbaenae are able to exert a great amount of strength from their muscles.
  • Elastic jaws:​ Amphisbaenae are able to expand their jaws to immense proportions.
  • Seismic sense:​ Amphisbaenae are able to sense and perceive vibrations in the ground.
  • Multiple heads:​ Amphisbaenae possess two heads, effectively allowing them better visual and sensual range.
  • 360 degree vision:​ Amphisbaenae, due to having two heads, are able to see multiple places at once.
  • Snake communication: Amphisbaenae are able to communicate with snakes, both mundane and magical varieties.
